“Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege.”
John D. Rockefeller Jr
Computer Aid is a UK based charity which carries out work on a global scale by reconditioning unwanted IT equipment. Once reconditioned, equipment with newly installed and comprehensive training programmes is donated to the neediest communities across the world, such as schools, hospitals and refugee camps. By doing so, they help bridge gaps in Education, Agriculture, Health and Crisis Response.
Computer Aid is now able to extend its reach even further, assisting many needy communities who do not have access to power supplies and other vital resources, in the form of a ZUBABOX – a mobile, solar-powered internet hub made from a recycled shipping container that provides connectivity and access to new technology, even to the most isolated and remote communities around the world. To date, Computer Aid have deployed 12 ZUBABOXES across Africa and South America. Each unit has the capacity to support up to 12 PC work stations and in all cases they have proved to be an integral community resource.
In addition to donating unwanted IT equipment, Endemol Shine Group aim to provide funding for a new ZUBABOXES over the next 12 months at a cost of £20,000. To date, we’ve raised £18,000 through a variety of initiatives and donated 40 PC units. This is a terrific opportunity for every OpCo to get involved with fund raising endeavours in support of Computer Aid.
