About this project
Brilliant ideas are worthy of being presented to a big audience, especially when it comes to important topics like global poverty and social inequality. Unfortunately most of the NGOs do not have the medium to reach a high amount of people with their innovative ideas and creative concepts. That’s why Endemol Shine Beyond wants to help those organisations.
The initiative, in cooperation with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Stiftung RTL – wir helfen Kindern e.V. (Children in need) and the German Webvideopreis, raises awareness of the important aspects of fighting against global poverty and social inequality.
The competition started at the end of April 2017 with a one-day workshop at the YouTube Space in Berlin, where the participants were supported by social media and online marketing experts from YouTube and Endemol Shine Beyond. They helped them with things like the right targeting, strategies and conception of the campaign for the different social media channels. After the workshop, a phase of mentoring took place for about four weeks. During that time the NGOs started developing their ideas and strategies together with an experienced mentor of Endemol Shine Beyond.
On June 1st, the winning NGO was announced: DSW (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung), an international development and advocacy organisation dedicated to empowering young people and vulnerable communities around the globe by addressing population dynamics and health issues, including sexual and reproductive rights, for a healthy and sustainable world.
The Jury consisted of the TV-host Jan Köppen, TV-host and representative of the foundation Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e.V. Wolfram Kons, YouTube Creator Diana zur Löwen, the CEOs of the European Webvideo Academy Markus Hündgen and Dr. Dimitrios Argirakos, Michael Kollatschny, CEO of Endemol Shine Beyond and Jan Winter, President of the Academy of the Webvideopreis Deutschland.
