Helping Tijn help others fight brain-stem cancer

About this project

This is Tijn, 6 years old. He had brain-stem cancer, a form of cancer that is very rare and at the moment cannot be cured.

Last December during the yearly massive fundraiser “Het Glazen Huis” for the Red Cross, he had an idea: raising money by polishing nails. And it went viral. He raised the staggering amount of 2 million euros on his own!

In May, Tijn launched a campaign to help children like him, children with brain-stem cancer: his own brand of nail-polish. His goal was to collect 1 million euros for a machine that makes convection-enhanced delivery possible, which will give children like Tijn more chance to be treated.

As one of the main goals of Endemol Shine for Kids is to comfort and help children who are ill, we bought 100 bottles of nail polish, with the cost of €1,000, to help Tijn reach his goal.

On July 7, 2017, one day after his campaign reached its goal, Tijn passed away.
